Facts You Should Know:
Eighty percent of all infections are spread through hand contact. And even if they don't know the exact percent, your customers know good cleaning is necessary for keeping their home or office healthy.
Kitchen sinks, either in homes or office break rooms are very germy. On average there are more than 500,000 bacteria per square inch around the drain in a sink, and the faucet handles are almost as bad.
To disinfect: Clean kitchen counter tops and sink with an antibacterial cleaning product. Clean the sink itself, with a solution of one tablespoon of chlorine bleach to one quart of water. Scrub the basin and pour the solution down the drain.
Surprisingly, bathtubs have 'staph' bacteria (a common type of infection causing bacteria) 26 percent of the time, compared with just 6 percent for garbage cans. Tubs typically have more than 100,000 bacteria per square inch. The viruses and bacteria that people wash off themselves often end up thriving in the moist environment of the tub.
To disinfect: Apply a disinfecting cleaner to the tub and scrub. Then wash the germs down the drain with water and dry the tub with a clean cloth or even better, use clean, white, paper towels. To thoroughly disinfect, do the same as with the sink, scrub with a solution of one tablespoon bleach to one quart of water, pour the remainder down the drain.
Telephones and keyboards are major sources of infection in both home and office. Phones get coated with germs both from people's mouths and their hands; as a result they often have more than 25,000 germs per square inch with desktops and keyboards a close second.
To disinfect: Clean desk, phone and keyboard with a disinfecting wipe each time you clean. This will eliminate 99.99 percent of the bacteria and viruses found there.
